For years I lived under the assumption that I had to suck it up and wear shades which punished me with headaches or constantly slid off.
But then I discovered that manufacturers actually do care about me (or about my dollars, at least). It turns out they do make extra large sunglasses! With that information to motivate me, I set out to find the best sunglasses for big heads that I could.
Finally, I have a great pair of sunglasses to wear. Now if only I could find a good hat.

Big Heads and Sunglasses
When you have a big head, everything that a smaller person would take for granted is tighter. Sunglasses are particularly frustrating because the arms either squeeze too tight or come up too short.
Also, the lenses themselves can seem undersized. When you finally do find a good pair of sunglasses that compliment your face, the arms snap off after a few uses because of the extra stress put on the hinges. You can't win. Which is why people with big heads need to find sunglasses specifically designed for big heads. Don't try to fit a size 10 foot into a size 8 shoe.
But there's a problem with large sunglasses if none of them look good. Manufacturers save a lot of money by producing one-size-fits-all products. When they do splurge and make a pair of extra-large sunglasses, they usually just fit some wider and longer arms on their same smaller lenses.
The results are that no matter how many pairs of sunglasses you try on, nothing seems to look quite right.
How To Choose?
The reason none of those in-store extra-large sunglasses look right is that the lenses are too small for your face. When you're shopping for a new pair of sunglasses, pay particular attention to the way the lens compliments your face.
A good rule is to choose a pair of sunglasses with the opposite shape of your face. So if you have a round face, choose square sunglasses. Square-jawed Teutonic warriors will do good with rounded sunglasses, such as aviators.
How will large sunglasses help me?
Once you've found a pair of sunglasses that are large enough for your head and have lenses which match your face, you're ready to rock and roll. You'll instantly notice how well these glasses fit and feel.
Driving, walking, gardening, and playing will suddenly feel so much better. The sun will be out of your eyes. Also, the glasses will fit with superb comfort. Best of all, they won't constantly slide off your face, and you won't have headaches or irritation after 10 minutes.
What styles are available?
The good news is that there are plenty of styles for large-headed people. The best sunglasses for big heads come in every style you can think of. There are large sunglasses for men and women, of all shapes and sizes and colors. There are playful vintage horn-rimmed glasses and serious Super Trooper aviator sunglasses.
How Much Do They Cost?
The best sunglasses for big heads cost the same as any other quality pair of sunglasses. You can expect to shell out reasonable money, but you can also find some sunglasses and pay for them at a premium price. How much you want to spend is really up to you. There are enough styles in every price range that you're bound to find something.
